R-matrix formulas are used to derive information about levels of Be-8 and reactions involving Be-8. Data from the He-4(alpha, p) Li-7, He-4(alpha, n) Be-7, and Li-7(p, alpha) He-4 reactions and from alpha + alpha elastic scattering are fitted, and a value obtained for the zero-energy S factor for Li-7(p, alpha) He-4: S(0) = 58 keV b. Recent measurements and analyses of the Li-7(d, alpha alpha)n and Li-7(p, gamma(0)) Be-8 reactions, and calculations concerned with low-lying intruder states in Be-8, are discussed with reference to R-matrix fits.
