The vibration analysis of cylindrical shells using wave propagation method is presented. Results obtained using the method have been evaluated against those available in the literature. Comparison of the results by the present method and numerical finite element method is also carried out. It is possible to conclude through the comparisons that the present method is convenient, effective and accurate. The method can be easily extended to complex boundary conditions and fluid-loaded shell structures. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
