Well-defined and different morphologic alpha -Fe2O3 particles with a well dispersibility have been prepared from Fe(OH)(3) gel via the solvothermal process in the presence of n-butylalcohol or dimethylbenzene as medium and characterized by XRD, TEM, and IR techniques. The effects of the solvents and reaction conditions on the particle morphology were also discussed. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
