Pyogenic spondylodiskitis can be diagnosed with multiple modalities including plain films, CT, gallium and technetium, bone scintimaging, and MR imaging. The characteristic findings reflecting the underlying pathophysiology in each modality are discussed. Current practice requires a biopsy to obtain a specific organism and pathologic diagnosis.
