Novel naphthalimide derivatives containing carbazole moiety have been synthesized as electroluminescent (EL) materials. The high HOMO level (5.80 eV) of carbazole moiety in the dyad molecules could increase the hole-injection properties and keep the carrier balance. The effective intramolecular hole transfer from carbazole moiety to naphthalimide was existed, A single-layer EL device was also fabricated and a bright yellow-green light peak at 535 nm was resulted from naphthalimide moiety with a maximum brightness of 110 cd/m(3) and a maximum current density of 240 mA/cm(2).
