Conducting Polypyrrole/Cl- (Ppy/Cl) has been electrochemically prepared between the open void spaces in polystyrene synthetic opal crystal. The synthetic opal was formed by the sedimentation of colloidal polystyrene (ca. 315 nm) to produce self-assembled face centered cubic (fcc) films exhibiting opalescence. The voids between the colloids were filled by polypyrrole grown through opal deposited onto Indium-Tin-Oxide (ITO) glass slide or platinum coated PVFD filter. Electrochemical studies as well as UV-visible spectroscopic studies were conducted.
