This is the first record of a mixed flora, including angiospermous leaf impressions, from the Lower Cretaceous (Upper Aptian-Lower Albian) of south Tunisia. Two localities, which are described here, Bir el Karma and Foum el Hassen, have similar floras, with ferns, conifers and fragmentary angiosperm leaves. The presence of these fossils is discussed, particularly those with angiospermous affinities. (C) 2001 Academic Press.
