The propagation of diffraction-free light beams (spatial solitons) in layered structure magneto-optic waveguides is investigated. Linear magneto-optic layers are used, but with varying degrees of complexity, coupled to optically nonlinear layers. The presence of interfaces is considered and control of spatial solitons is introduced. This control is exposed through the use of a split-field method of generating a perturbative analytical analysis. It is pointed out that these systems are very easy to create experimentally to any degree of sophistication. The approach is considered to be very promising for future all-optical processing.
