A method for the simultaneous solvent extraction into IBMK from acidic medium of Cd(II), Cu(II), Co(II), Cr(vl), Ni(II), Pb(II) and Zn(II) as dibenzyldilhiocarbamates and determination by AAS is proposed. Formal techniques for multidimensional optimization have been used, in particular, the response surface methodology, in order to obtain the best output variable to be optimized. The method was validated by applying it to some synthetic samples. In all cases, the trueness test indicated that the method was reliable, at least, for the samples analysed, which was confirmed by the recovery values obtained. The RSD values indicated a satisfactory precision.
