A facilitated d pi -p pi* transition was observed in a boron-ruthenium conjugated system prepared by hydroboration polymerization between mesitylborane and a ruthenium-phosphine complex containing tetrayne. In the UV-vis absorption spectrum of the obtained polymer, the absorption maximum of the MLCT band (d pi -p pi* transition) was highly bathochromically shifted by 141 nm relative to that of the tetrayne monomer.
