We have succeeded in welding of Zr55Al10Ni5Cu30 bulk metallic glasses using a spark welding method for the first time. No crystallization was observed in the welded and heat-affected zones and no visible interface was recognized. The tensile strength of the welded bulk metallic glasses was the same as that of the parent bulk metallic glass. (C) 2001 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
