Based on novel electrogenerated chemiluminescence (ECL) idea, a sensitive and selective flow-injection method for the determination of epinephrine is described based on its sensitizing effect on the weak ECL emission of electrochemically oxidized luminol. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the relative ECL intensity increased linearly with increasing epinephrine concentration in the range 7.0 x 10(-8) to 6.0 x 10(-6) mol l(-1) and with a detection limit (S:N = 3) of 2.8 x 10(-8) mol l(-1).
