Updated stellar rates for the reactions Ni-56(p, gamma)Cu-57 and Cu-57(p, gamma) Zn-58 are calculated by using all available experimental information as well as input data from the nuclear shell model. We calculated Coulomb and Thomas-Ehrmann shifts to obtain the unknown excitation energies and the spin/parity assignments of Zn-58. The astrophysical consequences are discussed.
