A series of platinum(II) terpyridyl acetylide complexes, [Pt(trpy)(C drop CR)]PF(6) (R = C(6)H(5), C(6)H(4)Cl-4, C(6)H(4)CH(3)-4, C(6)H(4)OCH(3)-4, C(6)H(4)NO(2)-4, benzo-15-crown-5, C(6)H(3)-(OCH(3))(2)-3,4), have been synthesized and characterized. Their luminescence and electrochemical behaviors have been studied. The ion-binding properties of [Pt(trpy)(C dropC-benzo-15-crown-5)]PF(6) and the X-ray crystal structure of [Pt(trpy)(C drop CC(6)H(5))]PF(6) are also reported.
