Four new polymers have been synthesized via succesive Diels-Alder cycloadditions of a bisdiene compound bearing two anthracene groups and four bisdienophiles, all containing bismaleimide functions. The polycondensation reaction was performed in NN-dimethylacetamide at 120 degreesC leading to polymers soluble in polar solvents having molecular weights lower than 6000 g mol(-1).
