Methylene blue was adsorbed on kaolin from a local deposit. The raw kaolin itself was a relatively good adsorbent. The adsorption capacity was improved by purification and by treatment with NaOH solution. Calcination of the kaolin reduced the adsorption capacity. The adsorption data could be fitted by the Freundlich and Langmuir equations. Also, the thermodynamic parameters such as DeltaH(0), DeltaS(0) and DeltaG(0) were determined.
