The immobilization of lead (II) ion by beta-Ca-3(PO4)(2), CaHPO4 . 2H(2)O and Ca(H2PO4)(2) . H2O was found to proceed more favorably than that by calcium hydroxyapatite (CaHAp), probably due to rather greater solubility of former three calcium phosphates than that of CaHAp. The contribution of dissolution-precipitation mechanism was suggested to the immobilization. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
