An improvement in the tensile ductility from the traditional 3-20% in 6.35-mm-thick molybdenum weldments has been achieved through the addition of Zr, Al, C and B at the ppm level. Atom probe tomography has revealed segregation of Zr, B and C to and depletion of O at the grain boundaries in the base metal and the heat affected zone.
