Friction stir welding (FSW) was used to join superplastic, rolled sheets of an AA 2095. Microstructure was examined by light optical and transmission electron microscopy. The superplastic behavior of welded sections and of the base metal were compared. Superplasticity was retained after FSW. (C) 2002 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
