When liposomes suspended in an aqueous electrolyte solution hit the surface of a static mercury drop electrode (SMDE) they burst and spread. These events lead to capacitive signals and allow counting of liposomes as well as the determination of the number of molecules in each liposome. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
