A theory is developed in real co-ordinate space to calculate the effective mass of charge carriers. electrons and holes, in amorphous solids. Accordingly different effective masses of a charge carrier are obtained in the extended and tail states, The effective masses thus obtained are used to study the absorption, photoluminescence and Hall effect in amorphous semiconductors.
