Carbon-coated natural graphite is a promising candidate for lithium-ion battery anode material. A method based on the thermal analysis of air oxidation has been introduced to measure carbon coating weight portions in the composite material. The carbon coating weight percent values derived from this method have been correlated with both the physical and electrochemical characteristics for a series of carbon-coated natural graphite.
