Several strong emission-line stars were found in the optical identification of the ROSAT PSPC sources in the Rosette Nebula. These possible X-ray emitters were classified from the low-resolution spectra obtained as Herbig Ae/Be type stars or probable weak-line T Tauri stars. A classical Be star was also identified around one of the X-ray sources studied. Our study supports the conjecture that ROSAT X-ray observations could trace low- and intermediate-mass star formation to a distance of similar to1.5 kpc.
