Transition metal complexes were grafted onto silicon oxide particles and fully characterized by DRIFT, XPS, SEM spectroscopies were used for two tailored purposes: (i) as modifiers of inorganic materials for molecular recognition and differentiation and (ii) as potential contrast agents for X-ray mapping in SEM to localize the variation of porosity in materials volume.
