A new process of low-temperature deposition manufacturing (LDM) based on the layer-by-layer manufacturing method of solid freeform fabrication is proposed to fabricate poly(L-lactic acid)/(tricalcium phosphate) composite scaffolds for bone tissue engineering. The LDM system and the manufacturing process are analyzed. The manufactured scaffolds are evaluated as bone regeneration scaffolds. (C) 2002 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
