Propagation-invariant azimuthally and radially polarized fields are examined. The orthogonality of these fields in every point of space is used to form propagation-invariant intensity distributions outside the scope of scalar theory. The same principle is then used to form self-imaging electromagnetic fields with non-self-imaging scalar components.
