Dendrimers are synthetic, highly branched, mono-disperse macromolecules of nanomater dimensions. Started in the mid-1980s, the research investigations into the synthetic methodology, physical and chemical properties of these macromolecules are increasing exponentially with growing interest in this field. Potential applications for dendrimers are now forthcoming. Properties associated with these dendrimers such as uniform size, water solubility, modifiable surface functionality and available internal cavities make them attractive for biological and drug-delivery applications.
