A generalized Wadati-Konno-Ichikawa eigenvalue problem is introduced and a hierarchy of infinite-dimensional integrable Hamiltonian equations related to this eigenvalue problem is obtained. The Lax pairs of the associated hierarchy are all nonlinearized into finite-dimensional completely integrable Hamiltonian systems. An involutive representation of solution of each equation in the resulting hierarchy is given. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
