LiNiO2 nanowire arrays were prepared with porous anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) templates from sol-gel solution containing Li(OAc) and Ni(OAC)(2). Electron microscope results showed that uniform length and diameter of LiNiO2 nanowires were obtained, and the length and diameter of the LiNiO2 nanowires are dependent on the pore diameter and the thickness of the applied AAO template. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and electron diffraction investigations demonstrate that the LiNiO2, nanowires have the layered structure of LiNiO2. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis indicates that a nearly stoichiometric layered LiNiO2 material has been obtained. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
