Powder neutron and synchrotron diffraction techniques are complementary and allow determination of complicated structures. However, in the inelastic domain, neutrons are still unique even if much progress has been made on 3rd generation synchrotron X-ray sources. A very wide range of time scales can now be covered with neutrons. For zeolite systems, this means that one can probe from fast vibrational modes of either the framework or of adsorbed molecules, down to slow molecular diffusion between the cavities.
