High quality (K0.5Bi0.5)TiO3 (KBT) powder has been successfully prepared by a polymerized complex method. The polymerized complex method is. a simple process used to produce KBT powder with good compositional homogeneity and sinterability. KBT ceramics with a relative density of more than 90% can be successfully fabricated from the KBT powder even by a conventional sintering process. The KBT ceramics produced by the polymerized complex method show better dielectric and piezoelectric characteristics than the KBT ceramics prepared by a solid-state reaction.method. The effect of the starting powder on the microstructures and dielectric, properties of the KBT ceramics is discussed in comparison with the case of the conventional powder synthesized by the solid-state reaction method.
