This article presents a transient model for moisture transport in wood. The model is based on Fick's law with water vapour pressure and temperature as driving potentials. A model for hysteresis has been proposed and included in the model. Comparisons between experimental results presented in Part 1: Sorption measurements of spruce exposed to cyclic step changes in relative humidity (Time 2002) and calculations have been performed. The model only deals with moisture transport in the hygroscopic region, liquid water is not included.
