The risk of periprocedural cardiac arrest associated with elective percutaneous coronary intervention in the setting of stable angina was very low. Most cases of cardiac arrest were associated with emergency, ad hoc procedures performed in the setting of acute myocardial infarction or cardiogenic shock.
