The co-operativity of water hydrogen bonds has been discussed, as a key to the appropriate interpretation of water infrared spectra. In that respect, interaction energy values have been ascribed to some structural arrangements of water. A scale for water electron donor. properties in aprotic solvents has been proposed, basing on Gutmann's donor numbers. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
