Non-equilibrium grain boundary segregation of tin occurs in a low-carbon steel during cooling from, a high temperature. There is a critical cooling rate for the segregation being between 5 and 20 K/s at which the maximum segregation of Sn is obtained. (C) 2002 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
