A full-dimensional quantum dynamical study of vibrational relaxation in H-2 + H-2 collisions using the potential energy surface (PES) of Schwenke is reported. The essential role of the anisotropy of the interaction potential is elucidated. A comparison of theoretical and experimental rate coefficients is made. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V.
