There are a number of applications where a voltage follower with low output impedance, capable of driving capacitive load, is required. In many cases, the load also consists of a resistor in parallel with a large capacitor. The operational amplifier (opamp) design for such loads is quite challenging when a high closed-loop bandwidth is also required. In this paper, a novel technique is presented whereby. the opamp is biased off the load itself, thereby increasing accuracy while at the same time remaining simple enough to be compensated easily.
