The electronic interaction between datively bonded phosphanes, 2,2'-bipyridine and 1,10-phenanthroline ligands, and copper(I) and silver(I) ions has been studied with cyclic voltammetry. Based on the shifts of reduction potentials of the metals, various degrees of interactions have been identified. They are correlated with the type and molecular structure of the bridging ligand.
