We isolated a cDNA encoding human dehydrodolichyl diphosphate (Dedol-PP) synthase and expressed the gene in a yeast mutant strain SNH23-7D, which is deficient in Dedol-PP synthase activity. The identity of the cloned enzyme was confirmed by functional complementation of SNH23-7D strain together with in vitro Dedol-PP synthase activity assay. Northern blot analysis indicated that testis and kidney expressed Dedol-PP synthase mRNA at high levels. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
