The gear performance of a carbon fiber (CF) reinforced polyamide 12 (PA12), which was prepared by injection molding, was investigated in comparison with those of CF reinforced polyamides such as polyamide 6 (PA6), polyamide 66 (PA66), and polyamide 46 (PA46). It was found that PA12/CF gear had an excellent wear property under the condition that a grease exists at the engagement region. PA12/CF gear indicated the highest load capability, excellent noiseless property, and the lowest water absorption among all polyamides investigated.
