In this work, Er3+/Yb3+: CaMoO4 upconversion phosphor is fabricated, and its temperature dependent luminescent performance is investigated. Using fluorescence intensity ratio of the Er3+ 2H(11/2) -> I-4(15/2) and S-4(3/2) -> I-4(15/2) emissions in CaMoO4 as thermometric index, the temperature sensitivity is found to be above 0.0095 K-1 in the whole temperature range of 303-873 K, while the maximum value reaches as high as 0.0143 K-1 at 573 K, revealing this phosphor to be a very promising optical temperature sensing material.
