Relative rate techniques were used to study the kinetics of the reaction of OH radicals with acetylene at 296 K in 25-8000 Torr of air, N-2/O-2, or O-2 diluent. Results obtained at total pressures of 25-750 Torr were in good agreement with the literature data. At pressures >3000 Tort, our results were substantially (similar to35%) lower than that reported previously. The kinetic data obtained over the pressure range 25-8000 Torr are well described (within 15%) by the Troe expression using k(o) = (2.92 +/- 0.55) x 10(-30) cm(6) molecule(-2) s(-1), k(infinity) = (9.69 +/- 0.30) x 10(-13) cm(3) molecule(-1) s(-1), and F-c = 0.60. At 760 Torr total pressure, this expression gives k(OH+C2H2) = 8.49 X 10(-13) cm molecule(-1) s(-1). (C) 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
