Discrete breathers in Josephson arrays

Since the original proposal of 1996 by Floria [Europhys. Lett. 36, 539 (1996)] of intrinsic localization in Josephson ladders, many efforts have been devoted to the theoretical, numerical, and experimental study of such dynamical states in Josephson arrays. Such efforts have already produced around 20 papers on the subject. In this article we will try to review the basic aspects of the physics of discrete breathers in Josephson arrays.
