The microstructure of Cu-6.1 at.%Ag thin wire cold drawn to a true strain of eta = 9.6 has been investigated by a three-dimensional atom probe. Substantial mixing progressed and the Ag concentration of Ag filament decreased to only 22 at.% at eta = 9.6. This is believed to be a part of the reasons for the low electrical conductivity of the severely cold drawn composite wire. (C) 2003 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Science Ltd.
