There is probably no other material more closely related to aerospace than titanium and its alloys. With a density of 4.5g/cm(3), titanium, alloys are only about half as heavy as steel or Ni-based superalloys, yielding an excellent strength-to-weight ratio. Furthermore, they have exceptional corrosion resistance. The use of titanium alloys in the aerospace sector will be highlighted, including airframe, engine, helicopter, and space applications.
