A review of methods for producing and using condensed melamine phosphates as name retardants, and analysis of our own investigations on production of melamine polyphosphate, are presented. Physicochemical properties of obtained products are given including thermal properties (DTA, TG, and DSC). Effectiveness of action of melamine polyphosphate as flame retardant for polypropylene was tested by a cone calorimeter according to ISO 5660.
