The chemical and phase composition of pathogenic minerals formed on human heart valves (cardiolytes) has been studied. It is shown that cardiolytes are organomineral aggregates, whose mineral component is represented by nonstoichiometric carbonate-containing hydroxyl apatites with a variable Ca/P atomic ratio.
