Measuring shock-induced temperatures in metals is a difficult task. We have developed a new device to measure emissivity of shock-loaded metals in contact with a lithium-fluoride anvil. This diagnostic, associated with standard pyrometry, allows to improve the accuracy on temperature. We have performed a series of experiments, including a few ones with this new diagnostic, to complement study of bismuth. Experimental temperatures and emissivities appear to be in good agreement with those predicted by theory.
