Mg2TiO4 ceramics were prepared with MgO and TiO2 by high energy ball milling method. Highly reactive nanosized Mg2TiO4 powders were successfully synthesized at 1000 degrees C in oxygen atmosphere for milled 30 h, about 200 degrees C lower than that by a conventional solid-state reaction process. The pure Mg2TiO4 nanopowders average particle size were reduced to about 163 nm. Mg2TiO4 ceramics at 1175 degrees C had the excellent microwave dielectric properties epsilon(gamma) = 13.9, Q x f = 98,600 GHz, tau(f) = -50.9 ppm/degrees C. (C) 2014 Elsevier B.V.
