A series of novel quinoline derivatives having a spirocyclopropyl ring can be synthesized by one-pot, three-component aza-Diels-Alder reactions of arenecarbaldehydes, arylamines, and methylenecyclopropanes (MCPs) using a heterogeneous solid acid catalyst, montmorillonite KSF, under mild reaction conditions in good to excellent yields.
